Spice Project - parked question from Volunteers and the Law Workshop

At the Volunteers and the Law Workshop on 26th April there was a question which I said I would investigate surrounding the Spice project. The Spice Project is where people volunteer for time credits; i.e. one hour volunteering could earn you one hour time credit (subject to the organisation being registered with Spice). In the current economic climate and with the major changes to the benefit system the demand for Citizens Advice services in Wiltshire is ever increasing. Last year Wiltshire Citizens Advice dealt with over 75,000 enquiries from their clients across Wiltshire and this number is expected to rise over the next year.With this in mind Wiltshire Citizens Advice need to recruit more volunteers for a number of  roles.…See More

New £60 million grant scheme launched to boost rural economy

 The Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has launched a new £60 million grant scheme to boost the rural economy.  Through the Rural Economy Grant, entrepreneurs are able to apply for grants of up to £1 million for projects that improve farm competitiveness, agri-food, tourism, forestry, and micro enterprise support.  The type of activities supported could include; helping companies buy new processing and packing equipment, allowing them to target new markets;  improving…See More
